Homo Cretinus - Le Triomphe de la Bêtise by Olivier Postel-Vinay
Rather easy and funny even though somewhat pessimistic read. I'll summarize it in English... Rated 4/5

A historical and philosophical investigation into stupidity, Homo Cretinus is an act of resistance, both learned and funny.
A notion even more vague than intelligence, stupidity is elusive yet omnipresent, protean yet immediately recognizable—in others, of course! Its manifestations are so numerous that they form a veritable menagerie: stupid stupidity, which is exacerbated by digital society, is susceptible to fake news and conspiracy theories and corrupts the individual's critical sense. Collective stupidity is trapped by numerous ideological mirages: gender theory, degrowth, transhumanism, supremacism, animalism... so many concepts built on sand. "Intelligent stupidity," as Robert Musil calls it, mocks IQ. The herd instinct also infects the minds of elites and experts of all kinds, followers of the "I know, therefore I am" philosophy.
For all, therefore, there is one constant: the closed mind, as highlighted by the philosopher V. Jankélévitch: "Stupidity is to stop there, no matter where."
