Liberté, Vérité, Démocratie by Arnaud Esquerre

An essay on where the Western world stands in terms of freedom of speech, truth and democracy, in French though... I will make a summary of it later on. Rated 4/5

Liberté, Vérité, Démocratie by Arnaud Esquerre

Something has changed in our democracies regarding freedom of expression, but what? We often hear that we can no longer say anything and, at the same time, that lies and fake news continue to flourish, so much so that we are no longer in a democracy. However, by questioning the conditions under which these discourses emerge, it appears on the contrary that, without being able to say everything, we have never been able to express ourselves as much as today, and that if relativism is necessary for democracy and the development of human knowledge, truth in politics is no less so for a democratic state to remain so.
