The Hour of the Predator by Giuliano da Empoli
Very well-written and subtle essay on the world's new dominant forces and characters. I rate it 4/5

Giuliano da Empoli delivers a breathtaking and chilling account of his travels through the land of power, from New York to Riyadh, from the UN to MBS's Ritz Carlton. He guides us to the other side of the looking glass, where power is acquired through thoughtless and flashy actions, where uninhibited autocrats are on the lookout for maximum chaos, where the lords of tech already seem to inhabit another world, where AI is proving uncontrollable... There's no doubt about it: the time of the predators has come. The author of The Mage of the Kremlin looks them squarely in the face, with the lucidity of a Machiavelli and the lofty perspective of a moralist.
